Combinando funciones En esta sección se estudiarán diferentes formas de combinar funciones para obtener nuevas funciones.
Suma, diferencia, producto y cociente de funciones El objetivo es combinar dos funciones f y g para obtener nuevas funciones f + g , f g , fg , f /g , de una manera similar a como se suman, restan multiplican o dividen números reales.
Algebra de funciones Sean f y g funciones con dominios A y B, respectivamente. Composición de funciones
En general, dadas dos funciones f y g para determinar la composición de funciones, se inicia con un número x en el dominio de g y se halla la imagen g (x ) . Si este número está en el dominio de f , podemos calcular el valor de f (g (x )) . El resultado es una nueva función h (x ) = f (g (x )) que es obtenida sustituyendo g en f . Se le llama la composición de funciones y se denota por: f g y se lee "f compuesta con g ". Dadas dos funciones f y g , la función composición f g (también llamada composición de f y g ) se de…ne:
